BOOST FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES IN TARNEIT

19 March 2021

The Andrews Labor Government has invested $97,333 in emergency services in Tarneit to provide essential operational equipment, vehicles and appliances for local volunteers.
Member for Tarneit Sarah Connolly today announced the Mount Cottrell CFA Group and the Truganina CFA Brigade would both receive funding to support their work protecting the local community
These projects are amongst 240 grants sharing in more than $14 million in funding under the governments 2020-21 Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP).
Truganina CFA will receive a grant of $94,000 to establish a Rehabilitation Unit for the brigade, including the purchasing of equipment. The Mount Cottrell Group, a peak body of 11 brigades in Melbournes west, will receive a grant of $3,333 to purchase a computer, screens, a smart TV and accessories for their stations.
Under the program, the Victorian Government matches every $1 paid by volunteer groups with a $2 co-contribution up to $150,000 per project. This brings the total investment in these projects to $146,000.
The annual grants program gives volunteer emergency service groups the opportunity to apply for grants of up to $150,000 to purchase equipment including vehicles, trucks, tankers, watercraft and trailers, and for minor improvements including refurbishments and amenities, such as kitchens and change rooms.
