NEW FAMILY CENTRE FOR TRUGANINA UNDER WAY

26 March 2021

A new kindergarten and family services hub for fast-growing Truganina is on the way thanks to funding from the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Tarneit Sarah Connolly, representing Minister for Local Government Shaun Leane, today officially started construction on the Truganina South East Integrated Family Centre.

The family centre received $3 million from the 2019-20 round of the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions’ Growing Suburbs Fund, which supports the creation of community connections, enhanced services, and provides greater opportunities for the local community.

The project has also benefited from $1.6 million from the Department of Education and Training’s 2018-19 Children’s Facilities Capital Program.

Built next to the newly opened Garrang Wilam Primary School, the Integrated Family Centre will be an accessible base for family services in the area, offering kindergarten for three and four-year-old’s as well as space for maternal child health consultations and other programs.

It is part of the wider $24.5 million Masterplan for Truganina South East, featuring new sports facilities, a community pavilion and open space for everyone to enjoy.

The Masterplan will be delivered by the Wyndham City Council, which has contributed $9 million towards the development, alongside $10 million from developer contributions.

Since 2015 the Growing Suburbs Fund has invested more than $27.5 million into the Wyndham City Council for 20 projects.
