NEW PARKS REVITALISING TARNEIT

19 April 2021

The Andrews Labor Government is supporting the upgrade of four parks in Tarneit, as part of a two-year commitment to suburban revitalisation in Tarneit.
The parks of Moondara, Camelot, Samaria St & Tarneit Lakes will include upgraded play spaces, new nature play areas, fitness equipment stations & seating. More trees will be planted to increase canopy cover, provide shade on hot days and enhance biodiversity.
The upgrade of the Tarneit parks network will provide high quality and diverse recreation opportunities for the local community.
The Andrews Labor Government is providing $465,000 to this important project with Wyndham City Council contributing $600,000.
The project is being delivered in partnership with the Tarneit Suburban Revitalisation Board chaired by Member for Tarneit, Sarah Connolly. The board provides advice to the Andrews Labor Government on ways to renew Tarneit, delivering projects that will improve public space and amenity and support local jobs and businesses.
The Suburban Revitalisation program works with regional and local stakeholders to help plan and deliver economic and social infrastructure, community development and place-making initiatives that focus on driving social and economic outcomes in specific activity centres.
The Suburban Revitalisation Program recently began supporting new projects in six activity centres in Metropolitan Melbourne including Boronia, Noble Park, Lilydale, Tarneit, Reservoir and Melton.
Funding of $21.25 million over two years has been provided to the eight boards through the Building Works Fund, and the 2020-21 Victorian State Budget.
The Victorian Government is committed to encouraging suburban revitalisation as a way of strengthening Melbournes liveability and driving economic opportunity and jobs growth closer to where people live. For more information about Suburban Revitalisation go to suburbandevelopment.vic.gov.au.
